Founder, sculptor & artisan Jud Smith and his team have been working in the concrete countertop industry for almost 30 years. With so many homeowners & businesses in need of professional maintenance for their concrete countertops, Jud meets the need with Concrete Doctor Restorations.

About Founder Judson Smith and Fox Marble Stone Care & Concrete Restoration

During the ’90s the Bay area was a hotbed for innovations in art, architecture, and design. A handful of artisans & designers became interested in concrete as a decorative material and the concept of a cast concrete countertop was born. At the time, Judson Smith was exploring concrete as a medium for sculpture during my studies at CCA in Oakland.
After completing his undergraduate degree (BFA in Sculpture ‘93) he went to work for Fu-Tung Cheng, an innovator in the field, assisting in his concrete countertop casting shop and for the 6 years he was with Cheng he managed his shop for the last four. There he learned all about the properties of concrete, how to design mixes, color matches, and sealer applications. He was proud to have been instrumental in the co-creation of the first book about concrete countertops “Concrete Countertops,” Taunton Press, 2000.
Since then, Judson Smith has worked for several concrete countertop companies, including Sonoma Cast Stone and Bohemian Stoneworks as well as having his own countertop company, Arkeon Art. Over the years, he's been contacted numerous times by homeowners & businesses exasperated after a seemingly endless search for qualified concrete craftsmean to take on restoring their concrete countertops.
Now with a growing number of fabricators churning out concrete countertops over the last 25 years, it became clear there was a huge need for a concrete countertop restoration company. Judson Smith founded Concrete Doctor Restorations Inc. in 2012 to meet that need. In 2025, Concrete Doctor Restorations Inc became part of Fox Marble Stone Care & Concrete Restoration. We have a great crew, the training and experience of a craftsmen and the eyes of an artisans. We bring skill, integrity, and knowledge to every restoration project.
